Now remove you hair smothly

The sun has shone uninterrupted for almost 2 weeks now, which means I finally had to tend to the secret garden that has become my legs.

What better time and hardier test of a new razor!

Gillette have just launched a new Venus called Embrace (£6.99 and £7.99 for 3 replacement blades). The men in white coats at Gillette have decided that the 4 blade Venus is now ‘soooo 2008’ and that the whole razor industry needs a shake up, some innovation to cut through the crunch and get people excited about shaving again. ‘How can they possibly do that’, you ask, wait for it....with a razor...wait for it....with 5 blades! 5 Blades, who would have thought! Anyway extreme sarcasm aside I tried it and it was a very pleasant experience, they have even spared us the Miss Piggy pink that apparently all women like!! Ergonomically the Venus has always had a pleasing balance to it with a gel grip which holds well in the wet; and it is very hard to cut yourself even around the shin/knee area. (Available stores nationwide)

It is no secret that in the fashion of a savvy drug dealer, fabricators of razors make your first purchase (the body of the razor and 1 spare blade) very affordable in order to get you hooked. They then go on to cream you with the price of the blades where they make most of their money.

The Danes have come to the rescue with a product called Razorpit - luckily the product is rather better than the name. It is a blade sharpener that works on the same principal barbers use when sharpening their knifes on a leather strap, the silicone surface removes soap, mould, skin and hair that stick to the blade and make it dull, allowing you to use the blade again and again. Razorpit works on 95% of all razors extending their life on average to 150 uses, which when you consider most blades have a life of 10-15 shaves, this starts to look like a very interesting product. Eco friendly and it pays for itself in the first couple of months, very zeitgeist! £19.95 on Mankind -
