Washington Informer “The Singer,” by Maurice G. Fitzgerald, is one of more than 30 photographs on display in the “28 Exposures” exhibit at the Art Institute of Washington. The exhibit will run until Thurs., May 28. Photo by Maurice G. Fitzgerald

More than 30 original landscape and portrait photographs in black and white and in color can be seen in an exhibition entitled “28 Exposures” at the Art Institute of Washington in Arlington, Va. Victor Holt and Maurice Fitzgerald, both Washington Informer photographers, have works included in the exhibit.

The exhibition is the third annual juried members’ exhibit organized by The Exposure Group, an African American photographers association in Washington, D.C. Its members include portrait artists, photojournalists, documentary photographers, and fine artists who work as freelancers.

Holt’s black and white photograph “Shades” entices the viewer to look behind the dark glasses of the subject and imagine what he might be thinking.

Fitzgerald’s black and white photograph “The Singer,” not only shows the viewer the emotional expression of a singer, but allows the mind’s eye to imagine the soulful intensity of reaching a harmonic note.

Denise Rolark Barnes, publisher of The Informer, said, while viewing the exhibit, “For someone like me who has knowledge of some of these photographers and has worked with Victor and Maurice on a weekly basis, it gives me the opportunity to see how they can make the ordinary extraordinary. It’s like that moment you exhale, when you look at a child, or a park, or a boulder, or a singer and see the artistic creativity in them.”

Some of the other photographers included in the exhibition are Lillie Lewis-Garrett, Edward Savwoir, Milton Williams, Lisa Fanning, Cleve Bryant and Sharon Farmer, who was the first African American female photographer to work at the White House during the Clinton presidency.

“The head of our photography department has a close relationship with The Exposure Group. She encourages the students to meet and talk to the photographers. The students get really excited and inspired when they meet photographers whose names they recognize,” said Tiffany Young, public relations coordinator for The Art Institute of Washington.

The exhibition “28 Exposures” runs through May 28. For more information call The Art Institute of Washington at 703 358 9550.

You can share me your experienced Beauty Products

beauty
So I am waiting lots of responses, and I am still doing a lot of research! Don't worry guys, I'm not bored yet!

I want feedback! If there is a specific product you would like to know about, please let me know, and I will try my best to find out the complete research . Also, if there is product that you absolutely love, write a review and I'll post it here! You can be a celebrity! Ok, well, maybe not. But you could be a big help with just 1 review!

Is there anything on the site I haven't mentioned thus far, that I should be reviewing? Is there anything that is just fabulous and you want to rave about it? Is there a product that you found out has animal derivatives, and you're looking for an alternative? Please let me know!

Also, I'm thinking about changing the name of the blog and the link. I haven't decided yet. I realized that the blog can appeal to vegans, vegetarians, Hindus, and people who are just looking for organic products. I want the blog to be accesible to everyone who needs it, and if they are searching, they might not come across this blog.

Just some thoughts for today.

Love,
Kamran Bhatti

P.S. Please become a follower! I know more and more people are reading this blog, and I'd love to know who exactly I'm talking to!

Low quality cosmetics injurious for skin

Numbers of peoples are badly affected each year by a silent from of chemical warfare that's taking place every day within the comforts of our own homes. While we worry about the chemical weaponry of terrorists and lead-contaminated imported toys, we are literally poisoning our resistant systems with thousands of toxic chemicals.

It starts with your morning routine. If you are a man, you will probably use shampoo, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, hair gel or styling products, shaving cream, and aftershave or cologne. A typical day for a woman starts much the same, with the added possibilities of shower gel, body and face cream, lotion, moisturizer, make-up, hair spray, perfume, and nail polish. By the time you have made it to the door, you have swallowed, inhaled and absorbed through your skin hundreds of toxic chemicals, some of which have been proven to be deadly to laboratory animals and many of which are known to be carcinogens.

If you are suffering from dry flaky skin, persistent skin irritations, rashes, sinus problems, allergies, asthma and other health problems that never seem to get cured, it may be time for you to examine the negative effects your personal care products are having on your health. It's great to exercise and watch what you eat, but you must also watch what you put on your body and even what you use to clean your house if you want to achieve optimal health.
